During a condolence visit by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, to the division's headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding the 6 Division, Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander of the Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, emphasized the army's dedication to the mission.The division's headquarters at Port Harcourt Barracks hosted the visit.
According to Abdussalam, the soldiers would stay in the creeks until they had managed to seize every weapon that the attackers had taken and captured every person responsible for the horrible deeds.
In light of the seriousness of the situation and the requirement for justice for the deceased soldiers and civilians, he pledged that the operations would be carried out with professionalism, firmness, strength, and decisiveness.
The incident in the Okuama neighborhood prompted a strong response from the Nigerian military, underscoring the difficulties in protecting unstable areas and the military's will to bring peace and order back to the impacted communities.

He further emphasized that "troops would not be deterred from hunting down the criminals by propaganda and false narratives being churned out over this mindless criminality."
