UST-IN: Kano Governor Enacts 24-Hour Curfew Due to Violent Demonstrations and Theft

A 24-hour curfew was imposed on Kano State on Thursday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in reaction to the growing violence during the #EndBadGovernance demonstration. The declaration was released through a press release from the State Government House in the midst of allegations of looting, assault, and vandalism on both public and private property in Kano City. Governor Yusuf emphasized, "This action is meant to ensure the safety of lives and property." After starting out peacefully, the protest quickly spiraled out of control, forcing the state government to step in. According to Governor Yusuf's proclamation, everyone in the area had to stay indoors during the curfew.
