Aisha Maikudi, a law professor, becomes UniAbuja's acting vice chancellor

Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi was elected by the university's Senate to serve as the institution's acting vice chancellor until the University Council is sworn in and a permanent vice chancellor is appointed. Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah's term as the University of Abuja's (UniAbuja) sixth vice chancellor ends on June 30, 2024.



In addition to being a professor of international law, Maikudi serves as the university's deputy vice chancellor for academics.

Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi was chosen by the university's Senate to serve as the acting vice chancellor of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) when Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah's term as the institution's sixth vice chancellor ended on June 30, 2024 the organization while the University Council is established and a permanent vice-chancellor is appointed.



In addition to being a professor of international law, Maikudi serves as the university's deputy vice chancellor for academics.


She studied at the University of Reading and the London School of Economics in the UK after completing her secondary schooling, earning degrees in law as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Master of Laws (LLM), respectively. She also attended the University of Abuja to earn her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law and the Nigeria Law School in Abuja to prepare for the bar.


Aisha served in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation's (NNPC) Corporate Secretariat and Legal Division during the 2007 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).


2008 saw her become a member of the beginning as a lecturer at the University of Abuja, she went on to become the first female and youngest Head of the Department in the Faculty of Law in 2014, the first female and youngest Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Law in 2018, and the first female Director of the University of Abuja in 2018.


She is the first female professor of law in the North West and at the University of Abuja, as well as the youngest professor in both Nigeria and the University of Abuja, according to PRNigeria. She has written significantly in the field of United Nations Law, which is her area of expertise.


In addition to supervising a number of undergraduate and graduate projects, Aisha founded a postgraduate course on UN law. She is knowledgeable about the workings of company law, having taught it for more than 12 years. She took part in at countless training sessions and conferences throughout the globe.

In addition, she belongs to a number of professional bodies, such as the International Federation of Women Lawyers (IFWL), the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the Nigerian Law Teachers Association (NLTA).


Professor Aisha is wed and has kids.
