A 24-hour curfew was imposed on Kano State on Thursday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in reaction to the growing violence during the #EndBadGovernance demonstration.
The declaration was released through a press release from the State Government House in the midst of allegations of looting, assault, and vandalism on both public and private property in Kano City.
Governor Yusuf emphasized, "This action is meant to ensure the safety of lives and property."
After starting out peacefully, the protest quickly spiraled out of control, forcing the state government to step in. According to Governor Yusuf's proclamation, everyone in the area had to stay indoors during the curfew.
"It is now the responsibility of all state security agencies to ensure full and immediate compliance," The Governor Declaring, Yusuf charged law enforcement officials with upholding public order and executing the curfew.
The governor also urged people to remain calm and vigilant, pleading with them to assist law enforcement during this crucial time.
