The FWA Footballer of the Year Award 2023–24 goes to Phil Foden.


Phil Foden, a player for Manchester City, has been named the 2023–24 Footballer of the Year by the Footballer Writers’ Association.

The winner of the women's honors was Manchester City's Khadija "Bunny" Shaw.

With 42% of the voting, Foden became the third Man City player in four years to win the men's Footballer of the Year title, following Erling Haaland in 2023 and Ruben Dias in 2021.

Declan Rice, an Arsenal midfielder, and Rodri, a Man City teammate, came in second and third, respectively, behind the playmaker. The top six included Martin Odegaard, Ollie Watkins, and Cole Palmer.

This season, Oden, 23, has tallied 16 goals in the Premier League and assisted on seven more.

UST-IN: Kano Governor Enacts 24-Hour Curfew Due to Violent Demonstrations and Theft

A 24-hour curfew was imposed on Kano State on Thursday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in reaction to the growing violence during the #EndBadGovernance demonstration. The declaration was released through a press release from the State Government House in the midst of allegations of looting, assault, and vandalism on both public and private property in Kano City. Governor Yusuf emphasized, "This action is meant to ensure the safety of lives and property." After starting out peacefully, the protest quickly spiraled out of control, forcing the state government to step in.
