Head coach of the Super Falcons Randy Waldrum has selected goalie Chiamaka Nnadozie and captain Rasheedat Ajibade for the Women's Olympic football competition in France.
This was said in a statement made available to media on Wednesday in Abuja by Mr. Ademola Olajire, Head of the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) Communications Department.
Osinachi Ohale, Oluwatosin Demehin, and Michelle Alozie were among the defenders the coach included in the team.
Midfielders Deborah Abiodun, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, and Toni Payne are among the others on the list.
The final selection also included forwards Asisat Oshoala, Esther Okoronkwo, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Uchenna Kanu.
Olajire claims that some of the squad members who are now on vacation in Nigeria will join the players and team executives who are situated at home on a Thursday night flight operated by Air France from Abuja to Sevilla, Spain.
He continued by saying that Friday would see the arrival of the remaining players and technical staff in Sevilla for a two-week training camp.On Thursday, July 18, the team is expected to leave Sevilla for France.
"Nigeria, the nine-time African champions, will play Brazil, Spain, and Japan in that order in this year's Women's Olympic Football Tournament—their first appearance at the event since 2008 in China.
