The hearing of an application in the ongoing Kano Emirship legal dispute was postponed by a Kano State High Court on Tuesday until Thursday, July 4.
On May 27, a motion ex parte was filed by the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the Kano State House of Assembly, via their legal representative Ibrahim Isah-Wangida.
The petitioners are requesting an injunction prohibiting Aminu Ado-Bayero, the fifteenth Emir, and the other four deposed Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from acting in regalia.
Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, Alhaji Nasiru Ado-Bayero, Bichi Emir; Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar ll, Karaye Emir; Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa, Rano Emir; and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya, Emir are the of Gaya.

The Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Director of the State Security Service, and the Inspector-General of Police are the others.
Attorney for the applicants, Mr. Eyitayo Fatogun SAN, told the court that he was served five processes by the first respondent on July 1 at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the case came up for hearing on all pending applications.
"Oh Lord, we filed all of our responses after receiving the responder five processes yesterday evening.
"We request that the court grant us a half-hour to withdraw so that we can provide the respondent with our answers."
Ado-Bayero's attorney, Mr. Abdul Muhammed SAN, objected to the 30-minute responders standdown and requested a postponement so he could respond and submit all of their applications.
The case was postponed to July 4th by Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu in order to hear all outstanding applications and initiating motions.
In the interest of maintaining peace in Kano, the court issued an order on May 27 granting an interim injunction prohibiting the First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth respondents—as well as their servants and privies—from representing themselves as Emirs.
Remember that on May 23, the Kano State House of Assembly abolished the state's four recently established Emirate councils, and Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf reappointed Lamido Sanusi to the position of Emir of Kano.
