On July 8, 2024, the Oyo State Government has proclaimed Monday a work-free day in observance of Hijrah 1446AH, the Islamic New Year.
In a declaration signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Commissioner for Information, the state government recognized the importance of Hijrah in the lives of its Muslim citizens.
According to Oyelade, Monday, July 8, 2024, has been set aside as a day without work to commemorate the Hijrah, which marks the Prophet Muhammad's journey from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD.
