In order to lessen the hardships encountered by workers nationwide, labor groups in Oyo State have emphasized the necessity of swiftly implementing the new national minimum wage that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu authorized.
Although the new minimum wage that the president has authorized is a positive step, the Nigeria Labour Congress's (NLC) state chairman, Mr. Kayode Martins, argued that delaying its implementation could worsen the plight of Nigerian workers
Meanwhile, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has vowed to pay the new minimum wage of N70,000 as approved by the federal government.
The governor’s special adviser (Media), Sulaiman Olanrewaju, said on Friday that the state government would implement the new minimum wage for the state workers.
He recalled that the governor had promised to pay whatever the federal government agreed to pay as minimum wage.
Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde has pledged to pay the N70,000 new minimum wage that the federal government has authorized. Sulaiman Olanrewaju, the governor's special adviser for media, declared on Friday that the state government would raise the minimum pay for public employees. He remembered that the governor had pledged to pay the minimum wage, up to the amount agreed upon by the federal government.
