Reasons Shoprite is leaving Nigeria's retail business"

If the company's scorecard for the year ended June 28, 2020 is any indication, weakness in purchasing power, difficulties with foreign exchange, and fierce competition were some of the major factors that informed the decision, even though the news of Shoprite's impending departure from Nigeria may have surprised many. Also, there had been currency devaluations in the supermarket's non-South African division. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the value of the Nigerian naira was N360. It then declined to N460 in June and is currently at N475 against the US dollar. Although the business was thought to be doing well in terms of local currency, it was losing money on the abroad, while fluctuating exchange rates continued to jeopardize its financial stability. The Guardian was already informed by an insider that the primary obstacles were the high cost of doing business in the most populous Black nation and the volatility of foreign exchange. The insider also added that the new agr

Why the Naira declined by 23% in just four days: economists and currency dealers

The Central Bank of Nigeria, or CBN, issuing slow forex disbursements to BDCs, which has resulted in a surge in demand for dollars from banks and end users in the parallel market. This has caused the Naira to fall by 23% against the dollar last week, marking the worst weekly performance of the Naira since February. Currency dealers and analysts were unsure about the Naira's fortunes this week, citing the pace and speed of CBN intervention as a determining factor.  However, on Friday, the CBN intervened in the official Nigeria Foreign Exchange Market, or NAFEM, saving the Naira. As a result, the Naira appreciated in the parallel market. Following The Naira last week declined by N285 (25%) over the course of four days, to N1,405 per dollar on Thursday, April 25th, after two months of continuous growth to N1,140 on Friday, April 19, from N1,1,820 per dollar on Wednesday, March 21. Premier League Teams Concur on Salary Cap Strategies

The Premier League teams have approved a proposal that would set limits on the amount of money they may spend on wages, agent fees, and transfers. The plan received more votes than the required majority of 14, capping spending for elite teams at an as-yet-unconfirmed multiple of the amount received by the lowest side in broadcast money. 16 of the 20 teams in the Premier League supported it during the Monday shareholders' meeting; Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Manchester City are said to have voted against it. The Times said that Chelsea decided not to participate. The theory is that if clubs are prevented from spending so much money, the Premier League will become more competitive. as opposed to one that is controlled by only one or two incredibly affluent clubs. The Premier League is already planning to replace its Profit & Sustainability regulations in 2025 with a new squad cost control policy that caps a club's expenditures on transfers, wages, and agent fees at 85

Two more weeks will see fuel shortages, predicts IPMAN

According to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, or IPMAN, it will take at least two weeks for the gasoline shortage that is currently affecting several states in the nation to return to normal. This is despite yesterday's insistence by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NPCL) that it has sufficient supplies of the commodity on hand. But according to Chinedu Ukadike, IPMAN's public relations officer, the product isn't offered in the nation. He claimed that because most refineries in Europe are undertaking turnaround maintenance, finding the product has grown somewhat difficult. Ukadike further attributed the severe lack of supply to importation restrictions and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream's sluggish renewal of marketers' licenses. NMDPRA, the Petroleum Regulatory Authority. Out of 15,000 marketers, he said that just 1,050 got their licenses renewed by NMDPRA. "The situation is that there is no product," he st

This occurs because the muscles and enzymes in the stomach that break down food are momentarily numbed by the cold. Consequently, the The efficiency of the digestive process decreases. 3.
