Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, residents on Thursday disregarded the statewide strike that was called to bring the government's attention to the nation's economic predicament.
As of the time of this report, locals could be seen going about their regular business activities, and our correspondent who was keeping an eye on the developments in the state noticed that there was not a single protest or demonstration in any region of the state.
Nonetheless, there were locks on a few retail centers and other establishments in key locations like Benue Crescent and Iyorchia Ayu Road.
In a same vein, visitors also stopped visiting motor parks as no passengers were present, which prevented interstate commercial and Benue Links vehicles from loading.
There were security guards stationed near the entrance to a few government institutions, including the State Emergency Management Agency, the Federal and State Secretariats, the Benue State Internal Revenue Services (BIRS), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
