Why the Labour Organization may not pay the minimum wage on time

After the new minimum wage's introduction was delayed, Labour asked Nigerians to have patience with their federal and state governments.

This occurred concurrently with the Federal Government being cleared of any misconduct by the workers' union, which stated that it would be unjust to infer that a purposeful effort was made to evade paying the new minimum wage.

This was said in a conversation with our correspondent on Monday by Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, the deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress Political Commission.

On July 29, following a meeting with the heads of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu officially signed the new minimum wage into law.

According to The TIMBLOGGIST, just seven other The following states have formed implementation committees for the recently authorized N70,000 minimum wage: Kano, Kwara, Ogun, Borno, Jigawa, Ondo, and Abia.

Plateau, Kebbi, Sokoto, Nasarawa, Bayelsa, Delta, Osun, Ekiti, Zamfara, Benue, Enugu, Taraba, Gombe, Kogi, Enugu, Adamawa, Niger, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Katsina, Kaduna, Cross River, and Yobe are the states that have not yet raised implementation panels.

Only seven other states—Kano, Kwara, Ogun, Borno, Jigawa, Ondo, and Abia—have established committees to oversee the implementation of the recently authorized N70,000 minimum wage, according to a TIMBLOGGIST report.

Plateau, Kebbi, Sokoto, Nasarawa, Bayelsa, Delta, Osun, Ekiti, Zamfara, Benue, Enugu, Taraba, Gombe, Kogi, Enugu, Adamawa, Niger, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Katsina, Kaduna, Cross River, and Yobe are the states that have not yet raised implementation panels.

The administration of Adamawa has also joined the increasing number of states that are prepared to pay the new salary starting on Monday.

Ndubuaku, however, emphasized that it was crucial to inform people that the procedures involved in implementing the N70,000 salary could cause a small delay.

However, the union president voiced hope that the procedure may be finished by the end of August.

"We have no reason to suspect that" (intentional delay), he stated. Signing the salary is actually only a little part of the primary task. We refer to this type of modification as consequential adjustment. That involves the calculation of the minimum wage from level one, step one. From there, we will move from stage one to 13 up to the sixteenth level.

Consequently, it can take some time. Once more, they won't gather them all by themselves. Templates are available for gathering it. However, they also need to support us. You are aware, I think, that a committee has been tasked with making the necessary modifications. We anticipate finishing it by the end of the month.

Teachers are the backbone of our society. They educate and shape the minds of our future leaders, innovators, and citizens. Without teachers, we would not have the doctors, engineers, and scientists who drive our economy and development. They play a vital role in shaping our culture and values. Teachers are better than farmers because they contribute more significantly to the overall development of society. *Nneoma (against the topic):* Thank you, Moderator. While teachers play a crucial role in education, farmers are the backbone of our economy. They provide the food that sustains us, and their work is essential to huma...
