Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, the recently appointed head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), has pledged to use innovation to make the bureaucracy more effective and efficient while reviving the civil service.
When Walson-Jack started working in Abuja yesterday, she provided the assurance.
President Bola Tinubu nominated Walson-Jack as the next HOCSF on July 17 with effect from August 14, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who finished her term and retired on the same date, was replaced by her appointment.
In 2009, Walson-Jack enlisted in the Federal Civil Service, and in 2017, she was named Permanent Secretary.
She worked for a number of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) prior to her appointment, including the the HOCSF office, the Ministries of Water Resources and Sanitation, Power, Niger Delta Affairs, and, more recently, Education.
Upon taking office, Walson-Jack promised to carry out the reforms that her forerunners had already started in the service and summarized in the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25).
"My goal for the civil service is to bring it back to life with creativity and innovation so that we can have a more productive bureaucracy that will support President Bola Tinubu's agenda for renewed hope."
For the time being, we will mostly be concentrating on the reforms that are currently in place; we must maintain them, and we would surely like to pick up the pace.
"I am confident that we can support and remove them." to the following degree, "she promised.
Using the occasion, the HOCSF also expressed gratitude to Tinubu for granting her the opportunity to serve in this capacity, promising that she would not let him or the country down.
"To Mr. President, Your Excellency, I express my sincere gratitude for the honor bestowed upon me to hold this office.
"With God on my side, I will definitely not disappoint Nigerians, and I would like to reiterate that I will not disappoint Mr. President," she stated.
Even so, she knew that she would not be able to accomplish the service's necessary goals on her alone and therefore asked for the assistance of all public servants to work together.
"I come as a servant to the civil servants." first and foremost, I am aware that I am powerless on my own.
"To accomplish the objectives of this administration, I want our team to work together and I am requesting complete cooperation and support," she said.
Mr. Raymond Omachi, permanent secretary of the Common Services Office, responded on behalf of the staff and promised her full cooperation while collaborating with Dr. Yemi-Esan, the former HOCSF.
He remarked, "I want to emphasize that just as we helped your predecessor succeed, we will help you succeed as well. We will be devoted to you and we will do all it takes to help you succeed in your mandate.
