The renowned musical group PSquare has officially broken up for the second time, according to Paul Okoye, better known by his stage name Rudeboy.
Rudeboy explained the split between himself and his brother, Peter Okoye, as a result of personal problems and artistic disagreements in an insightful interview with City FM, Lagos, on Thursday.
"I was being accused of saying that he [Peter] was the dancer and I'm the singer," Rudeboy clarified in response to rumors that he had minimized Peter's contribution to the group. Every time we go to the airport, I'm aware that people inquire, "Are you a dancer or a singer?" I was unaware that it was touching him. However, I am aware that there was a moment when we got together and urged, "Don't let this get to you, You ought to take pride in your work. That's the part you're doing.
Rudeboy disclosed that Peter had communicated his wish to quit the group, but he chose not to disclose the choice.
"There was calm in the new PSquare. I needed the mistakes of the past to stay in the past. However, Peter stated that he is no longer involved in the matter. He even told me straight up that he wanted to give up. He declined when I asked whether we could make it public. What will happen, though, if I do it alone? I'll be dubbed the evil person by some. I'm speaking up now because of that," Rudeboy remarked.
After their failed attempt to reconnect, which Rudeboy anticipated would result in new smash records, they parted up.
"Our arrival plan reuniting was supposed to result in more smash records. But for now, all I'm thinking about is Rudeboy. Believe me, it's not all I would have wanted to say," he said.
Rudeboy also emphasized the differences in their musical visions.
His desire for an equal division of creative duties never came to pass.
"We collaborated on a song called 'Eja Jo' with T.I. That's when the problem arose. Till today, that song is still on 3 million views because people didn’t hear the PSquare’s voice that they are used to when we came back together, because I didn’t want the issues that happened before, I told my brother to show himself, let us be involved in the creative process together Rudeboy remarked, "I told him we should split up who carries the tracks evenly, but it wasn't working.
