Sanwo-Olu Assignments NSITF on Accountability and Transparency

The Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) was urged yesterday by Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to provide high-quality services for the public good and to be open and accountable.

During a courtesy visit to Lagos House in Ikeja, Governor Sanwo-Olu presented the charge to Oluwaseun Faleye, the managing director of the NSITF, and the Senate Committee.

He assured that his administration is prepared to harness the areas of collaboration with the NSITF to accomplish its goals and to investigate the advantages of the Fund for workers and Lagos residents. He also confirmed that the state government has a comprehensive insurance package in place for the workers of Lagos State.

He mentioned that the legislative retreat hosted by NSITF This would be for the benefit of Nigerians, reaffirming the administration's pledge to support the Fund in order to guarantee that citizens reap the benefits of democracy and build a stronger, more resilient, and self-sufficient country for coming generations.

Dicket Plang, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Employment, Labour, and Productivity and a senator representing Plateau Central, stated that the National Assembly is dedicated to making sure the NSITF carries out its duties to guarantee that employers and employees in the public and private sectors are protected and paid when working, likely involving some hazards.

Since laws are dynamic, Senator Plang stated that the NSITF is a creation of the Parliament and that "we need to sit and get back from time to time to find out how successful the MDAs are performing and when." We need to make certain adjustments in order to boost productivity.

"We're here to learn about the challenges faced by the management during our retreat so that, when it comes to our own oversight role, we can position ourselves to help them succeed."

For the interest of Nigerians, Plang continued, they "Have the responsibility to ensure that both the constitutional functions of the employers and employees are adhered to."

According to him, the fact that Governor Sanwo-Olu is hosting the committee “signifies that there is a synergy between the Legislative arm of government and the Executive arm of government.”

Oluwaseun Faleye, the managing director of NSITF, stated that they were in Lagos State for an intense two-day retreat with the theme "Building a Stronger NSITF," intended to increase the involvement of stakeholders and make use of the legislators' initiative to assist them.

Teachers are the backbone of our society. They educate and shape the minds of our future leaders, innovators, and citizens. Without teachers, we would not have the doctors, engineers, and scientists who drive our economy and development. They play a vital role in shaping our culture and values. Teachers are better than farmers because they contribute more significantly to the overall development of society. *Nneoma (against the topic):* Thank you, Moderator. While teachers play a crucial role in education, farmers are the backbone of our economy. They provide the food that sustains us, and their work is essential to huma...
